For the next year we may see a lot of headlines like the one above as DC and Marvel battle for number one. This month, Marvel once again took the top spot earning the most money and selling the most product. While that may make some feel superior, when one looks at the Top Ten Titles Sold in the Direct Market, the picture is quite different as DC places seven titles in the Top Ten.

There are still some interesting bits of information that can be brought to light this month. On the plus side sales of comics and graphic novels were up by 20% and 22% respectively compared to April 2012, while the year to year comparison has comic book sales up over 44%.
What does that mean? It means comics are doing very well right now, and the only thing that we need to see how well the industry doing as a whole is, is data from the digital comic market, as well as sales from sales to newsstands, grocery stores, and subscriptions.

Who in the world are Eaglemoss Publications?
Well Im sure glad DC detroyed all my old favorites so they could be number 2.
They were number 2 before, but they’ve narrowed that gap considerably. From a business perspective, the experiment would seem to be a success.
Well, increased sales is always good. Between the Avengers and the New 52, things are looking up for the industry.
Now all we need is for the companies to start focusing on making their lackluster books not crap. I’m looking at you, Justice League.
