Previously in Storm and the Brotherhood of Mutants: Mister Sinister has infected the galaxy with his Sinister gene and caused the world to turn upside down. One thousand years later, Ironfire prepares his last stand with Sinister, Khora, and the few remaining survivors of Arakko. With Emma Frost’s Red Diamond Empire, their survival doesn’t look possible.
RESSURECTION
Storm and the Brotherhood of Mutants #3 starts with the moral implications of working with Mister Sinister. Sinister has a Storm gene left over, and mimicking the old Five resurrection process, Arakko resurrects Storm. However, this Storm doesn’t have her memories or experiences. Emma Frost attacks Arakko, and the last surviving rebels fight. Emma Frost uploads her consciousness into a giant body made of diamond to create a diamond sentinel.
During the fight, Khora falls in battle but uses her mutant ability to power amplify Storm. Storm rises to the sky, destroys Emma Frost’s fleet, and falls unconscious, perhaps dead. As Jon Ironfire declares victory, Sinister shoots him in the head.
INTERESTING CONCLUSION
Storm and the Brotherhood of Mutants #3 is an action book, and it is incredibly fast-paced. Unlike other books in the Sins of Sinister event, I was happy with the pacing, even if we lacked heavy characterization of some of these characters. Still, the plot moved forward productively, and I rarely found myself confused. This is impressive because I am dead tired and lacked the energy to fully devote to my initial read-through. So that I could keep track of everything is an incredible feat for the creative team here.
I do wish we spent more time with Storm here. Her resurrection is unique since Arakko is entirely against the resurrection process. So, watching Khora and Ironfire come to grips with this decision is compelling storytelling. This philosophical idea is more engaging than the Sinister plotline because I think deep down, we all knew that Sinister would betray Ironfire. Therefore, the last page was predictable and lacked emotional weight.
Finally, the art of this comic is excellent. I could keep track of everything on the page, and I appreciated the details and colors of the battle. Lighting and fire have two dynamic environment elements, and Vitti and Beredo accomplished it with skill. Great work here.
BOTTOM LINE: SOLID ISSUE
Storm and the Brotherhood #3 is one of the better issues of this event. While I am still on the fence about the series, this comic is worth picking up. 4 out of 5 stars, and I am sure to pick up the last two issues to the event.

Storm and the Brotherhood of Mutants #3 is one of the best showings in the Sins of Sinister event, and I wished we had kept this pacing up in earlier issues.
