Shazam Fury of the Gods Drops a Poster and Trailer
Ahead of some sad DC announcements this week we were treated to some Shazam Fury of the Gods content beginning with this poster on Wednesday:
Followed up by their second trailer on Thursday:
SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS – Official Trailer 2
It’s Time To Grow Up. Shazam! Fury of the Gods – in theaters March 17. #ShazamMovie SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS From New Line Cinema comes “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” which continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!,” is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.
The first trailer was much more classic superhero with this second offering focusing on theme of found family which runs through, what social media is now calling, “The Shazamily”.
Shazam Fury of the Gods opens in cinemas on March 17th, 2023.
Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special Also Drops a Trailer
Between the two DC-adjacent trailers we got this week Harley Quinn the Animated Series gifted us a trailer via Twitter on Monday and it’s the one which gave me my entire life:

As fans of Harley Quinn will remember, the show had a bit of controversy previously when WB execs walked past an intimate act between Batman and Catwoman on screen. It appears this trailer may be taking some of the frustration, vibes, and energy which came from that and repurposed it in a fun way.
Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special hits HBO Max on February 9th, 2023.
Doom Patrol and Titans Cancelled by HBO Max
Well, the list of television shows I’m watching just dropped off by two. *insert sad face emoji here*
In the latest blow to DCTV amidst the merger and regime changes we have seen at Warner Bros since last year The Hollywood Reporter reported on Wednesday that both Titans and Doom Patrol (holdovers from when DC Universe was streaming scripted content), would end after the fourth seasons which debuted at the end of last year.
An HBO Spokesperson told THR:
“While these will be the final seasons of Titans and Doom Patrol, we are very proud of these series and excited for fans to see their climactic endings. We are grateful to Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television for making such thrilling, action-packed, heartfelt series. We thank Titans showrunner Greg Walker, executive producers Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, Richard Hatem, and the team at Weed Road Pictures. For Doom Patrol, we celebrate showrunner Jeremy Carver and executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, Chris Dingess and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson. For four seasons, fans have fallen in love with the Titans and Doom Patrol, investing in their trials and tribulations, and in their legendary battles saving the world time and time again.”
This on the heels of The Flash and the larger Arrowverse coming to a close this year is hopefully setting the stage for new DCTV shows to come.
Lance Reddick and Toby Stephens Join Percy Jackson
Spoilerties, I read Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief last year for the first time! I know I’m about 20 years too late to the Percy Jackson party and finally diving into Rick Riordan’s magnum opus has made me even more enthused for the upcoming Disney+ series. Did someone say “Geek History Lesson with a guest on Percy Jackson?” It was me. I said it. Me.
The entertainment industry served up from exciting Percy Jackson and the Olympians casting news yesterday by announcing actor Lance Reddick (John Wick, The Wire), and Toby Stephens (Lost in Space, Die Another Day). would be joining the upcoming series in the roles of Zeus and Poseidon, respectively per Variety. If you are a Percy Jackson reader
you know how important both roles are and how closely one of these characters is tied to the eponymous character.
As a fan of Percy Jackson I, personally, can not think of a more perfect set of casting! Reddick and Stepehns join: Walker Scobell, Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Timm Sharp, Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, Charlie Bushnell, Adam Copeland, Suzanne Cryer, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Timothy Omundsen, and Jay Duplass.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians hits Disney+ in either late 2023 or early 2024.
