Henry Cavill – from Superman to Warhammer
Actor Henry Cavill has had quite a week! His Instagram has been ground zero for all the developments and information regarding the future of his career and exactly which major multimedia franchise he is helming after all. In the continued swell of WB chaos Cavill confirmed he would not be returning to the role of Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman despite an announcement earlier this year that the studio had recourted and reestablished him as the Man of Steel for the future of the DC Films.
Cavill posted to his Instagram on Thursday:

With no additional clarity or details coming from anyone working on either DC Films or WB.
He then followed it up with a post four hours ago (at the time I sit here writing this week’s Did You Hear …? feature for you), about taking on the world of Warhammer:
Henry Cavill on Instagram: “For 30 years I have dreamt of seeing a Warhammer universe in live action. Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the skill set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life. Partnering with Natalie Viscuso at Vertigo has been a blessing beyond words, without her we might not have found the perfect home at Amazon. And having a home like Amazon will give us the freedom to be true to the massive scope of Warhammer. To all of you Warhammer fans out there, I promise to respect this IP that we love. I promise to bring you something familiar. And I endeavour to bring you something fantastic that is, as of yet, unseen. Our first steps are to find our Filmmaker/Creator/Writer. Watch this space, my friends. For The Emperor! #Warhammer @WarhammerOfficial @AmazonStudios @PrimeVideo @NViscuso #Vertigo”

Cavill is famously an obsessive gamer in everything from table top to pc gaming. His social media frequently features footage of him painting miniatures and customizing machines for the limited free time he must have in between movie projects. He wrote about Warhammer:

The fandom aspect aside it’s going to be interesting to watching Cavill step into behind-the-camera roles in addition to the presence we know him to have on screen.
Avatar: The Way of Water Makes $17 Million in Previews
Variety has reported that James Cameron’s 13-year-old sequel has garnered $17 million in preview screening this weekend ahead of today’s official release date. The movie cost an apparent $350 million with its effects-heavy design.
Projections are currently sitting at $150 – $175 million after Sunday. If Avatar: The Way of Water manages to hit this range this would make it amongst the highest offerings of the year, though still shy of both Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ($185 million opening), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ($181 million opening).
Despite high projections, when you consider the estimated budget above, the amount of money this sequel is going to need to make to cover production and marketing costs in order to “be a hit” is astronomical.
