Previously in X-Men ’92: The Krakoan age allowed all mutants to finally put aside their differences and work together. But what if this story took place in the 90s? Steve Foxe explores the dynamics of the 90s X-men with a modern storyline!
DON’T FIGURE IT OUT
X-Men ’92: House of XCII #2 shows us the life of Jubilee, who has the power to reincarnate into different realities. This is her last life, and Charles Xavier and Magento have hidden her away to keep her safe. From here, we see how the island functions. It shows us the different teams that are reminiscent of modern continuity. However, the Orchis threat is still out there, and villains like Graydon Creed, Lady Deathstrike, and others prepare to attack Krakoa directly. They send a six-armed sentinel to Krakoa and force the mutants to fight it. However, it was a decoy designed to learn the tactics of the mutants to give Orchis more information. Meanwhile, Wolverine found Jubilee and was followed by Sabretooth.
NOT MUCH HAPPENED
The first issue of this miniseries was filled with action and suspense. X-Men ’92: House of XCII #2 felt very slow. It was designed to look at the easter eggs and show unique scenes like Beast and Mister Sinister working together. When we got to the plotlines, it felt a bit rushed, and the fight with the Sentinel felt quick despite all the lead-up. Therefore, the story fell flat for me. I really like the concept and the ideas here. But I’m no longer curious about the world. I want to just see how the plot develops, and this issue didn’t have much of anything. In fact, we left on with the exact hook from issue 1, which is Wolverine finding Jubilee.
I admit that I enjoy the return of the 90s costumes. Seeing Storm back in white is a huge nostalgia hit.
BOTTOM LINE: LOSING VALUE FOR ME
I’m still on board with the idea, but I’m losing interest in the plot line. Hopefully next issue with pick up the conflict to drive the story forward. 3 out of 5 stars for X-Men ’92: House of XCII #2.

X-Men ’92: House of XCII #2 doesn’t drive the plot or conflict forward engagingly or productively for me.
