CANTO AND THE CITY OF GIANTS #2
Writer: David M. Booher
Artist: Sebastián Piriz
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Striking a bargain to free his giant friends, Canto must now enter a labyrinth and face a foul beast known as Ferro. He has an untrustworthy weapon at his side—the Misturian Witch. With signs of the monster everywhere and the threat of his companion’s betrayal hanging over him, Canto must find the monster before the monster finds him. Canto co-creator and writer David M. Booher teams up with special guest artist Sebastian Piriz (Headspace, Disaster Inc.) in this 3-issue follow up to Canto II: The Hollow Men, with Booher and artist Drew Zucker set to return to Canto’s world in the upcoming Canto III: Lionhearted!
INGRID: The world of Canto is surprisingly rich. This short arc, set between Canto II and Canto III, explores the title character’s side adventures with some of the interesting other beings he has met along the way with some humor and great imagination.
TIME BEFORE TIME #1
Writer: Declan Shalvey and Rory McConville
Artist: Joe Palmer
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The year is 2140, and to escape a world with no future, many turn to the Syndicate, a criminal organization who, for the right price, will smuggle you back in time to a better life. After working for the Syndicate for years, Tatsuo and Oscar decide to steal one of their boss’s time machines—but soon find that the one thing you can’t run from is your past.
TIME BEFORE TIME is a brand-new ongoing series where writer/artist DECLAN SHALVEY (BOG BODIES) joins forces with the WRITE IT IN BLOOD team of RORY McCONVILLE and JOE PALMER. Looper meets SAGA in this extra-sized debut issue.
CHRISTOPHER: I am always interested in a new Image Comics series. This title seems right up my alley. Just the mere concept of being smuggled back in time sounds amazing.
INGRID: I’ve read several time travel stories over the years, and this is the first I have seen where the time travel group is a criminal syndicate. It’s always difficult to get completely out of a criminal organization; can time travel make this any easier? The concept is definitely intriguing.
STEPHEN: This started out telling one story, and then turned it on its head. Really enjoyed reading this issue, and if you are a fan of time-travel stories, you’ll enjoy this, too!
X-CORPS #1
Writer: Tini Howard
Artist: Alberto Foche
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $4.99
SOLICITATION: The deals have been made. Mutantkind is safe on Krakoa. As the Reign of X continues, what are the wants of the mutants who have everything? Leading the charge is X-CORPORATION, headed by CXOs Monet St. Croix and Warren Worthington, a duo as cutthroat and ruthless in the boardroom as they are on a battlefield. But X-Corp needs more than just its figureheads. As Monet sets out to staff their team with some of the brightest and most deviant minds in mutantkind, Warren finds himself in a tense meeting with one of Krakoa’s first allies who wants to know the truth: on Angel’s wings, will X-Corp crash or soar?
CHRISTOPHER: I’ve been enjoying the current X-Men universe comics and this title feels like it is going to have a unique tone compared to the other X-Men runs.
ROBOT OVERLORD: You are broad minded and socially active.
