It occurred to me recently that there are SIX Michael Bay-era Transformers movies. Generation 1, what was “my” version of the Transformers has been wholly and completely supplanted by a whole new edition. Sure, they may call that giant dinosaur “Grimlock”, but he’s something entirely new, and the days of Jack Angel, Chris Latta and Frank Welker shouting at one another over low-grade animation have ceased to be. And that’s okay. Heck, more than okay, that’s the secret of life itself: Sometimes, our former fave raves move on without us. My daughter’s generation is in love with radio-scramblin’ Bumblebee, a Roadblock played by Dwayne Johnson and a Batman who is actually allowed to hit people. The pop culture that I love isn’t gone forever, though, and in the Netflix era, I can always go and watch “B.O.T.” whenever I want. (I’m joking: Nobody has ever WANTED to watch “B.O.T.”) Fortunately for me, it’s also the kind of thing that leads us to today’s philosophical query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) has been at this crossroads before and at least it’s better than a romantic breakup (but only just), asking: What former fave raves no longer appeal to you, thanks to the ever-shifting winds of change?

Can I say Comics. The whole “industry” . I have become so jaded over the whole investment mentality, the constant reboots, the whole “we must appeal to …….. to sell more”….. and more …. and more……., the “multi covers sell more copies” The “I won’t buy it unless it is graded 9.8 or higher” . I used to love going to the LCS (before it was called an LCS) and picking up the new shiny treasures of the week , talking with other fans, and taking them home to read. OMG I ACTUALLY READ THEM. That is almost a sin these days.
Sorry for the rant.

It happens.
Its probably your usual Marvel and DC style capes and tights. I just realized I’ve not really paid attention to any storylines, events or books going on for few years now. I’ll still pick up an older trade every now and then, but none of the currently ongoing books with the sole exception of Finnish edition Spider-Man subscription that’s been going on for a long time.
