New Mutants Hits Theatres This Weekend
I’m going to do my very best to leave out my opinions about movie theatres reopening in the country of my residence and stick to the facts: last night was the opening of the long-anticipated New Mutants movie. In my neck of the woods and other Covid-19 hotspots the movie will be showing at drive-in venues, as standard cinemas are still closed due to restrictions.
Early reviews are mixed – either very positive or very negative. The negative tend to skew more in the line of criticism of New Mutants not looking like the MCU which, in my opinion, is a strange criticism given the fact the movie is not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was no produced or work on by Marvel Studios.

Powerpuff Girls Coming to Live Action
Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup were seminal superheroes for generations of geeks and have enjoyed rampant success outside of their original show. Remember when their movie adaptation got theatrical release? Well, you just can’t hold these gals down!
On Monday Variety announced the living combos of sugar, spice, and everything nice (plus secret science additions!), will be coming to live action via the king superhero network The CW.
What will the series feature? Character growth and angst, of course:
In the updated version of the series, the titular superheroes are now disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?
The quick hot take feels very Riverdale-Meets-Original-Powerpuff-Girls-Series and as a fan of the original series, I’m into it!
I do want to know if the character Bliss will be a part of the live action show? Her character was notably not named in the CW series announcement She was a 2017 addition to the cast in a made-for-tv movie that I highly recommend if you are looking for some fun superhero content to stream right now!
Fans of the Arrowverse will recognize many heavy hitter names throwing their power behind Powerpuff Girls:
The project hails from writers and executive producers Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden will executive produce via Berlanti Productions. Warner Bros. Television will produce.
