Recently, I stumbled upon a showing of ‘Wayne’s World’ on cable and was stunned to think that, somehow, I almost completely forgot about it. Wayne and Garth were everywhere in ’92, and people ending sentences with “NOT!” was actually acceptable… sort of. For my part, I loved the bit for the meta parts of it, like two guys in their thirties pretending to be 17, using landmarks of their childhood like ‘Frampton Comes Alive’. But there was, for a time, a deep love of all things Party Time/Excellent, leading to today’s SCHWING! query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) imagines growing up during the era of ‘Avatar’ would create similar issues, asking: What your favorite example of pop culture that was EVERYWHERE but then everyone forgot about it?
