Regular Spoilerites are probably already aware of your humble MS-QOTD’s brain’s tendency to randomly store useless information for later use in discussions of things barely related, but some may not realize the downside of that dubious skill. For the last couple of days, I’ve had ‘Glad Girls’ by Guided By Voices stuck in my head, thanks to its use in a fantasy montage on a rerun of ‘How I Met Your Mother’, and woke up this morning literally humming the song. It could be worse, though, as the song is catchy and perfectly suited to the moment in question, making for a seamless merging of music and images that deserves to stick in one’s head. I am a sucker for a perfect useuof musicic, dating back to the musical theatre of my youth, such as ‘Heavy Metal’. (Yes, it counts. Shut up.) That film’s use of popular music to enhance the stories being told was darn-near perfect to my mind, and begs today’s query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is also a massive fan of “(You Need A) Montage” from ‘Team America: World Police’, asking: What’s the most utterly perfect use of music in your favorite pop culture?

Music selection was pretty much spot on in Watchmen movie.
The songs in “You’ve Got Mail” are perfect.
The opening song (Bellbottoms by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion) in Baby Driver is spot on.
