8) MS. MYSTIC
A resurrected witch who was murdered during the Salem Witch Trials, Ms. Mystic was explicitly a hero about protecting the environment and reversing the damage that humans had done to the planet. Debuting in 1982, Ms. Mystic’s adventures were not particularly subtle (one adventure featured her meeting the literal embodiment of Mother Nature, who created an elemental team called Urth-4 to serve as her environmental heralds) but they were well ahead of the curve in terms of addressing matters of climate change, pollution and such 35 years ago.
