One of my favorite single issues of comics, and my choice for best ‘What If?’ of them all, this story takes place in Earth-9904. Assembled by Jimmy Woo, this issues Avengers are all Marvel heroes of the 1950s (with one retcon in the form of 70s hero The 3-D Man, whose adventures took place in that decade) who come together to form the Avengers. Until ‘Avengers Forever’, it was unclear if this was truly the history of mainstream Marvel, but that series made it clear that it was an alternate timeline.
