So, I try really hard not to be all “judgy nerd who doesn’t accept anything that happened after he left high school”, but I really can’t stand Sam Alexander, the latest Marvel Nova. Is it my love of Richard Rider and the New Warriors? My distaste for the work of Jeph Loeb? Worries about Marvel’s deal with Marv Wolfman, the creator of the character? I honestly don’t know, but I can tell you that something about that character just sets off my hackles, even when he’s in a group setting or working with Rich. I hate that his wannabe helmet is the wrong color, but that’s actually just judgy nerd talking, leading to today’s Spice World query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) still doesn’t know what a ziggazig-hah is, though, asking: What fictional character is the biggest wannabe of them all?

Christian Bale’s Batman and Jared Leto’s Joker.
It’s hard not to be negative with the word “wanabe”. You just want to give an angry comment about a portrayal you hate, of a character you love. But as far as fiction for fiction’s sake…
SUPERBOY.
His character in almost all incarnations is all about becoming or not living up to the legacy of Superman.
It’s this Barry Allen fellow who’s just a wannabe Wally West.
Going back to your example:
Hindsight Lad.
