When people rolled their eyes at DC Comics’ 51 covers for Justice League a few years ago, they probably never thought Marvel would try something like that.
Guess again.
For the launch of U.S.Avengers #1, Marvel will produce over 50 unique variants – one for each state and presumably the protectorates and territories as well.
“We did extensive research through Marvel’s history to be able to align a particular Avenger with each individual State,” said Tom Brevoort, SVP/Executive Editor. “Beginning with places of birth, and expanding outward to key stories featuring the character in that particular location, we were able to hone in on a specific and unique Avengers character with a connection to each of the fifty States—and more!”
