Image Comics has announced Jeff Lemire and Emi Lenox’s Plutona series has been acquired by Waypoint Entertainment for a big screen adaptation.
Plutona follows a group of children who find the body of a famous dead superhero in the woods. It was released as a five-issue limited series in September 2015.
“Emi and I are extremely excited to be working with Waypoint Entertainment and Addictive Pictures to help bring our vision for Plutona to the big screen,” said Lemire. “Plutona has been a labor of love for us and we were very careful about finding a home for it, and we are thrilled that the team at Addictive and Waypoint share our passion for the story and for its potential as a film.”
According to Image Comics, Ken Kao, of Nice Guys fame, will produce with Dan Kao, and Addictive Pictures’ Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder.

Hopefully the screenplay will have a more satisfying resolution than the comic did. Maybe if this goes well we can get other adaptations of Jeff Lemire works, like Trillium.
