SyFy has announced it has given a thumbs up to the pilot for Krypton, a prequel to the Superman franchise.
“KRYPTON is one of the most iconic stories in the comic book universe,” said Bill McGoldrick, Executive Vice President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “In the talented hands of David S. Goyer and the DC Entertainment/Warner Horizon Television team, this exciting Syfy project will take viewers back to Superman’s home to show how the timeless legend began.
Don’t expect to see a baby Kal-El running around, as Krypton will follow Superman’s grandfather, as he fights to redeem the family honor and save his world from chaos.
While many other networks have ordered full series, SyFy is playing rather cool by only order a pilot to see how it flies. While it will still be several weeks before any formal production will begin, I don’t think anything will be ready to show at the San Diego Comic Con, which means unless the show gets picked up for a series, we may never see this pilot.

Blah, I’m kind of sick of the periphery shows that dance around properties that can’t use the characters that made that property popular. I like Superman not his great Uncle Bob-el. I love comic book shows, although there are a lot to follow but I’d rather see some new thing, like an image comic maybe than another Superman family. Also I just don’t like “SyFy” much anymore so it’s probably not going to be stellar. P.S. Comments are cool
Not a fan. It’s just a setting pulled from background and has no point. Plus they can’t have much of a budget so while people expect something like Man of Steel they will get something like Farscape or as I like to call it “Muppets in Space”
