We’ve been talking about the potential synergy between comic book publishers and movie theaters for years now, and some theaters have figured out ways of connecting with their local merchants to sell tie-in materials do fans as the exit the theater. Araca Group gets it too by launching pop-up stores in movie theaters.
The Araca Group, a renowned live entertainment merchandising company, has joined forces with DCPI and Marvel Entertainment to bring live event merchandise to moviegoers nationwide. The Araca Group will open 88 Pop-Up Retail locations in movie theaters across the continental US selling eleven limited-time products making up the “The Battle Begins” Collection. Check out thebattlebeginsmerchandise.com for specific locations.
This is a brilliant idea, and providing the movie theater lobby doesn’t turn into a mini-mall for schlock, this could be a way to keep interest in comic properties alive for years to come.
Marvel fans of all ages will find something for them from a variety of fashion forward t-shirts, custom sweatshirts, hats and more. A highly collectible item is sure to be Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War commemorative ticket in a ceramic holder, individually numbered with a limited edition of 5,000
Now if we could just get more local comic book shops to sell comics in the theaters that would be a win-win for everyone.
The Pop-Up Retail Locations open May 5th and will be around for a limited time.
