PRESS RELEASE:
Dark Horse is pleased to announce the promotion of Kari Yadro to the role of director of custom programs. Effective immediately, Yadro will serve as the head of the Dark Horse Comics custom publishing and products program.
Yadro will be responsible for business-to-business development, fostering new licensed publishing programs with custom publishing clients for new properties, developing co-marketing programs with entertainment partners, and other functions key to leading Dark Horse’s custom program division.
“I’m excited to have Kari join the licensing team to manage our custom programs. With her years of experience managing all aspects of events like San Diego Comic-Con, I’m confident Kari will excel in her new role working with our many clients and licensors on new and ongoing projects,” said Nick McWhorter, Dark Horse’s VP of media licensing.
Yadro began her career at Dark Horse Comics in September 2010 as an events manager and was promoted to director of conventions and events in December 2013. Yadro managed planning and logistics for Dark Horse Comics’ presence at all trade shows and consumer events, overseeing all aspects of participation and branding. Prior to steering the events team at Dark Horse, Yadro spent eight years at Barnes & Noble, where she excelled as a community relations manager.
“I have always been very fortunate in my career and gotten to work at places with amazing colleagues and business partners,” said Yadro. “Directing conventions and events for Dark Horse Comics has been an incredible experience, but I’m looking forward to this new opportunity, the chance to work with our existing licensors and creative teams in different ways and cultivating new ventures to launch exciting projects.”
A graduate of Eastern Washington University, Yadro received her bachelor’s degree in anthropology. In her free time, Yadro is an avid reader and culinary connoisseur.
Please join us in congratulating Kari Yadro on her past accomplishments and wishing her luck in her new role in the company.
