DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio revealed a bit about the upcoming Rebirth event, and something that may set the Internetz on fire.
GameSpot’s Comic Vine site interviewed DiDio, who shared much of the same PR-speak we’ve already heard regarding the Rebirth event, but he did drop one hint of what is to come.
“The first book is the DC Universe Rebirth Special,” said DiDio in the video interview. “I think you’ll be extraordinarily surprised and excited about what is in there. And it contains, what I believe, to be the single most controversial scene in DC Comics in all the time I’ve been there…”
More controversial than the shooting (and off panel rape) of Barbara Gordon in The Killing Joke? More shocking than the rape and death of Sue Dibney in the pages of Identity Crisis? More horrifying than Convergence? There have been a lot of shocking moments in DC Comics over the last 80 years, so this revelation from DiDio has me wondering what could be in store for the DCU come May.
More information regarding Rebirth will be revealed at Wonder Con on March 26th. DC Comics will have a live stream of the event, and we’ll have coverage and reaction to the news right here, on Major Spoilers.

I’m getting kinda a breathless with all the super-amazing-unforgettable-never-before-seen-universe-changing-all-new-all-different events that are happening. Shocking is only shocking if there’s a baseline “norm”, i.e. consistent, continuous story line. But with everything in flux, there is no “norm” to speak of and therefore “shocking” isn’t really possible, Or at the very least it’s impact is weakened.
Although honestly, I just don’t want them messing with my Starfire comics, haha
I really hope it is comic fan controversy and not real life controversy, like declaring Plastic Man and Elongated Man are basically the same thing or that Hawkman is a very well written character with a seamless history. The kind of stuff WE know isn’t true, but someone at DC really wants to believe is true.
