While it may not be the Powerball jackpot, Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens has crossed the $1 billion mark overseas.
Even though Star Wars lost to Ride Along 2 and The Revenant this weekend, it brought in $47.3 million pushing the global take to $1.86 billion. Domestically, the seventh film in the Star Wars series has earned $856.9 million, but as the film slips out of theaters, don’t expect any more large numbers in the U.S.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens now sits at the top of movies released domestically, ahead of Avatar by $96 million. Worldwide, Star Wars has moved to the number three spot and is still a billion dollars away from Avatars top spot.
