TVLine broke the story Firefly and Stargate: Atlantis actress Jewel Staite will be joining the cast of the CW‘s latest DC Comics television show Legends of Tomorrow.
Staite is reported to be playing the role of Rachel Turner a “tech genius/roboticist” who seems inspired by the runaway popularity of Arrow character Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), in the same way that Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), is for Flash.
Rachel Turner also comes from a “long line of inventors”, providing undoubtedly fertile ground back into the DCU to be mined. She is scheduled to make her first appearance in Legend of Tomorrow‘s tenth episode.
“Rachel believes that her creations can make that world a better place. Alas, what the brilliant beauty cannot foresee is that her work is destined to fall into the hands of immortal baddie Vandal Savage, who will use it to take over the world. Unless Rachel can team up with the Legends to stop him.”

I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m excited, but I am very pleased to hear she’s joining the cast. I’ve enjoyed the bulk of her characters across various TV series and films, so I think I’ll be happy to see what she brings to this series.
