ADAM.3 #2

SOLICITATION: “A nightmarish plague threatens Adam’s island home and everything he holds dear-including his beloved wife, his troubled son, and the animals he watches over. Lives are lost and captives are taken as an otherworldly invader penetrates Adam’s utopian environment.”
WAYNE: This book is creative on so many different levels, from the writing to the artwork to the layout! I love it when a writer/artist tells great stories, and that’s what this highly recommended comic is!
AGE OF REPTILES: ANCIENT EGYPTIANS #4
Writer: Ricardo Delgado
Artist: Ricardo Delgado

SOLICITATION: Ricardo Delgado’s latest tale of survival and the cycle of life in Cretaceous Africa! Will the lone, deadly Spinosaurus aegyptiacus survive to see another day? With colors by Ryan Hill (House of Night, Judge Dredd: Mega-City Two), this powerful, beautifully detailed adventure comes to a dramatic finish!
RODRIGO: If you listen to the Major Spoilers podcast you’ve heard me talk about Age of Reptiles before. I’m not recommending this comic because of the art, I’m recommending this comic because it IS art.
BAT MITE #4
Writer: Dan Jurgens
Artist: Corin Howell
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: There’s a new bad guy in town: Gridlock, the villain who’s stuck in the past! And now, he’s out to stop the future from coming!
MATTHEW: You can’t have a Jurgens comics without a Booster Gold appearance (it’s the law!), but in this case, I’ll allow it, as Bat-Mite has been working for me. If the rumors of editorial displeasure at DC are true, it’s a shame, because this is an example of a good book that never would have made the New 52 cut…
STEPHEN: Like Bizarro, Bat Mite is a fun series that will end soon, much to my dismay. So while the inevitable gets closer every day, enjoy this series now. NOW! GET THIS BOOK NOW!
GRANT MORRISON’S 18 DAYS #3
Writer: Grant Morrison
Artist: Francesco Biagini
Cover Artist: Jeevan Kang

The Queen has been with child for two years, there have been ill omens witnessed across the kingdom of Hastinapur. Meanwhile, the blind King Dhrit awaits the birth of his son, who he believes is prophesied to change the fate of the world.”
WAYNE: As great as Mr. Morrison is with superheroes, he can do even better with mythological/epic tales. I’ve loved this one from the start, so I recommend you get on board as quickly as you can for this one!
HILO BOOK 1: THE BOY WHO CRASHED TO EARTH HC
Writer/Artist: Judd Winnick
Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers
Cover Price: $13.99
SOLICITATION: “D.J. and his friend Gina are totally normal kids. But that was before a mysterious boy came crashing down from the sky! Hilo doesn’t know where he came from, or what he’s doing on Earth. (Or why going to school in only your underwear is a bad idea!) . . . But what if Hilo wasn’t the only thing to fall to our planet? Can the trio unlock the secrets of his past? Can Hilo survive a day at school? And are D.J. and Gina ready to save the world? HILO is ‘Calvin and Hobbes meets Big Nate’ and is just right for fans of Bone and comic books as well as laugh-out-loud school adventures like Jedi Academy and Wimpy Kid!”
WAYNE: Another writer/artist triumph! This book is great for kids of all ages! I enjoyed the story, the jokes, the art and the fun (something a lot of comics lack today, sadly). Yes, since it’s a hardcover it costs about as much as a trade paperback, but it is so worth it! Don’t miss this one!

A dark and heartbreaking journey about friendship and coming of age all through the lens of the superhero genre.
RODRIGO: I’m always on the lookout for new number ones. This one looks very interesting. The “capes” genre can get pretty stagnant, so it’s good to see writers taking it in other directions.

All she has to rebuild… is Planet Earth.
Plus, if the Surfer, Dawn, and Toomie were the only survivors of the previous cosmos to make it into the void… why are they not alone?!
MATTHEW: The best Silver Surfer stories since the 1970s are being told in this book. If you’re not reading it, you’re really missing out!

ROB: Agent Venom dealing with a Spider-Island that was lost has been an interesting take so far, and then we have the monstrified Avengers to add in to that and this has just been big creepy fun.
TOIL AND TROUBLE #1
Writer: Mairghread Scott
Artist: Kelly & Nichole Matthews
Publisher: Archaia

SOLICITATION: Throw out your textbooks, this is not the Macbeth you remember. Mairghread Scott (Transformers: Windblade) and artists Kelly & Nichole Matthews have reinvented Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, but this time the power is in the hands of the three witches. These ladies aren’t all “double, double, toil and trouble.” They’re the power controlling kings and the fate of Scotland.
STEPHEN: I was totally surprised by how great this book is. If you like Shakespeare, or just want a different look at history, this book is worth checking out. Pus, the art is beautiful.
