“It’s a universal story, one we’ve all experienced a time or two… ‘Boy meets girl, boy explains that his Asian friend had a rice picker accident, boy falls in love with girl, boy discovers girl is fated to die, girl falls in front of truck, boy gets the hell out of the 1930s.’ This version of the all-too-common tale features Harlan Ellison’s original script treatment, so you can feel the sting of doomed love while wondering if Harlan really did have it right the first time (although I do miss the Vaseline-smeared close-ups of young Joan Collins.) It’s also quite affordable for a hardcover, which makes it a perfect way to tell your other half that you’d hate to have to let him or her get squashed by heavy freight.

There are a lot of trade paperbacks coming out in February, but Superman: Earth One Vol. 3 is one of the few that is original (not a reprinting), and follows the model I’ve been proposing for years – tell a complete story in one volume, and release it annually.  I’m putting this on my list of books to pick up this month, and you should, too!” – Stephen
