According to Variety, CBS has found the actress to play Supergirl in the upcoming television series.
Glee alum Melissa Benoist has been tapped to play the Superman’s cousin for the hour long drama series, expected to hit CBS next year.
The eponymous series centers on Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, who escaped from Krypton amid the planet’s destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous relative. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
It would be nice if the series could have been set in the same universe as Arrow, and The Flash, but since we’re talking two different networks, the chances seem really slim. Still, Supergirl has already been given a series commitment from the network, and since the pilot is written by Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler, and Berlanti is producing Arrow and The Flash, the tone and feel may be very much the same. In an EW interview with producer Greg Berlanti, he has said their is a possibility the three shows could crossover, but may and will are very specific words. Of course he could just be being coy.

I say, ‘good news.’
I’m happy this series is being made and look forward to seeing the pilot.
Oh well. I was hoping for Gemma Atkinson myself. I’ll still check it out tho.
Would’ve preferred Molly Quinn or someone who can actually act with a positive personality, as opposed to the CW-esque faux drama attitude young actors and actresses all seem to have today.
What a pretty smile.
Well we know she can sing!
