Breaking news (or rumors) out of H’Wood – it looks like the next Spider-Man film will get pushed two years to 2018 instead of the previously planned 2016 date.
The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was originally slated to swing into theaters on June 10, 2016, but now the studio is pushing the third installment to 2018, but no exact date has been set. This means the already scheduled Amazing Spider-Man 4, will get a push as well.
Interestingly, Sony is moving ahead with The Sinister Six and has annouced that the villains will arrive in theaters on November 11, 2016.
“With Sinister Six in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016,” said Doug Belgrad, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.
If it means a good story that is solid and not something that is rushed simply to hold onto the property rights, then I’m all for the shift in date – especially with how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 played out earlier this year.

Wow. 4 years away? Very Strange.
I wonder if it ever comes back. Maybe they completely reboot? How old is Andrew Garfield going to be by the time they start shooting?
Just sell the rights back to Disney…
