Marvel Studios has finally announced it has found a director for the upcoming ‘Ant-Man’ movie following the exit of Edgar Wright several weeks ago.
Peyton Reed, of Jim Carey’s ‘Yes Man’ fame and a number of other comedies (Bring It On) has been tapped to lead the movie.
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
It’s interesting that they synopsis hasn’t changed from what we’ve seen earlier, because the change in story and tone are what caused Wright to leave in the first place. According to the Marvel announcement, Adam McKay has been brought on board to “contribute to the film’s script.”
Marvel did not say anything in regards to production start date, change to the release schedule, and so on, but the company still does state that Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas are still part of the movie.
