We’ve already mentioned that Phineas and Ferb will crossover with the “new to Disney ownership” property Star Wars, but what else was revealed at the Phineas and Ferb Panel at the San Diego Comic-Con?
Povenmire recounted to the audience that his reaction to the news of Disney buying Lucasfilm was to immediately draw a picture of Dr. Doofenshmirtz dressed as Darth Vader and sending it to the head of the Disney Channel. The response was that a crossover was already being discussed. Roughly scheduled for summer 2014, the Star Wars/Phineas and Ferb crossover will be focused on the characters and events of the original Star Wars movie, sometimes known as “A New Hope”. Phineas and Ferb portray the neighbors of the Owen farm on Tatooine, and are drawn into the exploits of Luke Skywalker. Similar to the stories of Tag and Bink, the P&F adventures take place on the edges of the original story while key events from the movie will be taking place in the background. Candice, Baljeet and Buford were shown dressed as Stormtroopers and Isabella will be the captain of a transport spaceship called the Centennial Chihuahua. The story will also feature the first fight between the two brothers, as teased in a still depicting Phineas as Luke facing off against Ferb dressed as Darth Maul.
But first, the Marvel crossover, titled “Mission Marvel”, will debut on the Disney Channel on August 16. The preview footage shown to convention-goers featured Thor, Spider-Man and Iron Man getting help from Phineas, Ferb and their friends fighting against the Red Skull and Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Although there was a drastic contrast between the styles of the two properties, that contrast was leveraged for comedy. In the show, the Red Skull comments on the absurdity of a serious villain such as himself (I don’t think they use the word Nazi, though) working with a bumbling kids’ cartoon villain like Doofenshmirtz. In the Q&A section of the panel, a little girl called out the writers on the fact that none of the female super heroes were included in the clip, a fact she described as ”harsh”. Povenmire responded that the lack of heroines actually becomes a plot point involving Isabella and Candice protesting the matter. Finally, the answer to another questioner revealed that, much like the Marvel movies, we will see a cameo from none other than Stan Lee.
Other revelations from the panel included the oncoming volume 3 of the Phineas and Ferb soundtrack, to be out “soon”. An episode in the next season will see the cast return to the alternate universe of their 2011 TV movie Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension. Asked about the possibility of a crossover with the Muppets, another Disney property, the creators said that while it wasn’t planned, they hadn’t ruled it out.

Thanks for the info on the Phineas and Ferb panel. I haven’t been able to find anything much about it elsewhere on the Internet.
