Rumors have been swirling all around about who will and won’t be reprising roles from the original Star Wars trilogy as J.J. Abrams continues the series on for Disney, but it appears that Carrie Fisher will be returning for the film.
In an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated Carrie was asked the question that all the original actors will be asked until all details are confirmed, “Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise your role?” When the interviewer asked if she will once again be Princess Leia Organa Fisher answered with a simple, “Yes.” The conversation then continued as follows:
What do you think Princess Leia is like today?
Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs].
I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.
And still wearing the bagel buns?
The bagel buns and the bikini, because probably she has sundowners syndrome. At sundown, she thinks that she’s 20-something. And she puts it on and gets institutionalized.
So there you have it, Princess Leia will be making her return for Episode VII but to what capacity is still up in the air. Does this signal that Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford will soon be confirmed as well? Only time will tell.
What do you think about Fisher stepping back into the role? Is this the right step for the franchise? Sound off in the comments below!

as long as the gold bikini is no where seen. it might be ok
YES! This makes me excited for the movie!! Maybe this will make some of the naysayers calm down for a while.
Harrison has NOTHING to prove… and Carrie and Mark would be nice in the right script.
Disney has taken a big chunk of almost impossible pie.
The “Big Three” can carry their own… what about the new kids?
Harrison Ford already confirmed about 2 weeks ago and if they both are Mark Hamill almost has no choice but to join in the old folks home fun!
Maybe it’ll be a “pass the baton” moment like The Expendables should be? I hope it’s not a prelude to a series reboot, though maybe that’s not such a bad thing. I appreciated the reboot of Star Trek, especially since I paid money to see Nemesis in theaters and I’m still a bit sore about it.
