VARIANT COVER: Superman and Wonder Woman sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G

DC Comics has unveiled the variant cover to Justice League #12 that will have Lois Lane fans seeing red.

According to Entertainment Weekly, and confirmed by DC Comics, Superman and Wonder Woman will be the romantic duo in the New 52, confirming rumors that Clark and Lois weren’t going to be a couple in the relaunchboot.  Of course anyone who has been reading Superman and the Action Comics books knew about this long before the variant cover was revealed today, but sometimes it takes a popular magazine like EW to get everyone to take notice.

Didn’t they did the same exact thing after the Crisis on Infinite Earths? I remember a John Byrne cover of the two kissing.
Although in this one, Wonder Woman looks a lot more passive. I seem to remember the John Byrne one being more of a face-to-face equals kissing.

      Cue the Barry White.

Better yet, let’s move this storyline over to the Vertigo imprimatur and make it REALLY interesting ;)

        Second that.

Didn’t Frank Miller already do this? “Goodness, Kent, you could populate a planet” is one of the best Wonder Woman quotes ever. As for Lois Lane fans – that’s the best laugh I’ve had all day. You’ll notice that “Superman’s Friend Jimmy Olsen” and “Superman’s Girl Friend Lois Lame” are both languishing in the dustbin of history along side the Giant Sized Superman Family Summer Fun specials.

After running for nearly 20 years each, at a time when comic sales were 20 times what they are now. Each issue of Lois or Jimmy would have outsold Walking Dead #100 two or three times over…

Yeah. People seem to forget that sales are NOTHING like what they used to be for this industry …

Yeesh, the DC fail-train keeps on trucking.
I continue to be amazed by DC’s ongoing efforts to make being a Wonder Woman fan a soul-crushing endurance test.

Though, as lame as the Superman/Wonder Woman ship is, at least it’s not the Batman/Wonder Woman ship.

Kryptonian hooks up with Amazon goddess.Sounds like a match made by the Gods.23 year old Wonder Woman with the…probably 25 year old Superman.I’m just estimating Superman’s age. It’s not the actual one or is it?

Um, notice that Lasso is actually around him. Maybe the normally shy Mr. Kent is having his inhibitions lowered in the wake of the tragedy? Perhaps this turns into a My Super Ex Girlfriend vibe six months down the road? Who knows, but it will make for some interesting stories.

I still can’t get used to Wonder Woman’s black boots. I keep thinking they’re a coloring error.
