What was up with Helena Wayne before she came to the main DCU Earth and became Huntress? Earth-2 and World’s Finest are two of the second wave of DC’s New 52 comics headed our way in May that focus on her move from one Earth to the other, and today, the publisher released a look at Robin by Kevin Maguire.
“Helena Wayne has been taught how to be the perfect Robin,” said James Robinson, writer of EARTH 2. “Assured as a detective, fighter, scientist, pilot and all around crime-fighter she’s been groomed by Batman to be the perfect caped manhunter (or should we say manHuntress) when she grows up.”
“Before coming to the main DCU Earth and taking up the mantle of Huntress, Helena Wayne fought crime alongside her father as the Robin to his Batman on Earth-2!” said WORLDS’ FINEST editor Wil Moss. “But how did she come to be on this Earth? And why did she decide to become Huntress? You’ll get some clues in next week’s HUNTRESS #6, but for the real scoop, pick up WORLDS’ FINEST #1!”
It is interesting that DC isn’t calling the current Earth, Earth-1 or Earth Prime, but the “main DCU Earth.” Could Earth Prime (old continuity following 52) still be out there somewhere?

I love it! I am somewhat skeptical of the super high boots in terms of restricting motion, but I think that design might work out
Same, although I wonder if it’s less an actual boot and more of a flexible layered armor plating to protect the knees and shin.
New 52 is really pushing the decorative knee pads.
I guess the editorial direction is uh…”realistic” and for the costumes to be “functional.”
I am totally fine with spandex and a lack of realism. I live in reality.
What’s the problem with knee pads and shin/”kick” pads?
I dont really care about the look, but I note the overall look of the redesigns have all been more armored looking. My cynical guess is that it’s an attempt to be “realistc.”
I’m hoping that finally someone will have a realistic idea on resolving the “Power Girl/Huntress” paradox as none of the “they’re really from Earth-1/New Earth” never really worked out. However, it will force them to reboot the post Final Crisis JSA story that showed the old “Pre-Crisis” Earth-2 as being recreated but with Kara still being a survivor of the “dead” Earth-2 if “World’s Finest” takes place on “New Post Final Crisis Post Flashpoint 52 DCU thingy place”.
Since Flashpoint rebuilt the DCU into the NuDCU there’s no longer any paradox with Power Girl. Never was a paradox with Huntress.

That got me thinking. “Earth Prime” was actually supposed to be “our” Earth where all of the DC characters were in comics and “real” people like Cary Bates, Julius Schwartz, etc. lived. “Whiny Tom Welling” Superboy was supposed to be from this world which was supposedly “destroyed” in one of the “Crisis” events. Earth-1 was the Silver Age DCU and Earth-2 the “Golden Age” DCU minus the Faucette heroes (“Earth-S”). Since “Earth-1” is now the universe where Superman and Batman are just now becoming heroes in a world “like ours” and Earth 2 has been ID’ed as the “relaunched” JSA world they will now be scratching their heads figuring out a better name for the “post-Flashpoint Earth”.
But would I like to see the “pre-Flashpoint” DCU out there somewhere? I’m not ready to abandon the “New” DCU but it would be nice to be able to “visit” the Gold/Silver/Bronze Age heroes in the post-Crisis Universe again.
There are so many “quotes” in this post that it “hurts” my “brain”. ;) THIS is what the notboot has begot~!!! We have to use up all our air quotes just trying to figure out what’s what!
I like “quotes”. They help me exercise the little finger on my right hand when typing. Good point but old fanboys like me were trying to figure out the same thing trying to figure out what characters were on Earth-1 and which on Earth-2 during the Silver/Bronze age. Or where the Faucette characters fit in. Or the Charlton characters. At least there’s only 52 realities in DC now rather than Earth-2,245,345.1 in Marvel.
Agreed.
I thought Pre-Flashpoint Earth Prime was our Earth but one that spawned Superboy Prime?
I was hoping she’d be “Batgirl”, with a Robin-like spirit; like Stephanie Brown & Cassie Cain smooshed into the “all-new” Young Mistress Wayne. I guess it’s true, however: Batman -needs- a Robin. ^_^
“Before coming to the main DCU Earth and taking up the mantle of Huntress, Helena Wayne fought crime alongside her father as the Robin to his Batman on Earth-2!”
Wait. What?
The current Huntress in the ‘New 52’ comic universe is Helena Wayne … ?!
I’ve read the entirety of the current Huntress series and, yet, completely missed that.
That reminds me: Any hints that the NuDCU Huntress was Helena WAYNE?
It is Helena Wayne, and issue #6 of The Huntress is supposed to give hints/explain things.
So does Helena Bertinelli just NOT exist anymore at all?
The DC fail-train just keeps on trucking.
No Bertinelli…no sale.
Oh hello there female version of the original tim drake suit.
