It’s been far, far, far too long since we featured our statue gallery, and since this works of art are just lining up to be featured, we thought now was just as good a time as any to show off these miniature marvels. This week we take a look at DC Direct’s Women of the DC Universe – Catwoman statue based on the art of Adam Hughes.
The first thing that stands out about this statue is the excellent paint job done on this piece. What really works is the matte finish on the exposed skin, the slick, glossy finish on the leather, and the metallic finish on the zipper. This is the kind of detail that makes you take notice over a statue that has the same finish for the entire piece (i.e. plastic).
Every angle of this statue is wonderful. It does take a lot of talent to take a 2-D drawing and turn it into a 3-D statue. Even though it is based on the work of Adam Hughes, Jack Matthews did a wonderful job on this piece.
The attention to detail is impressive. Note the eyelashes and the stitching/ribbing on the costume.
This is one of the better adaptations of a cover, and if you got this at the initial offering price, then you made a wise choice. I don’t know if the current auction prices will justify the purchase, but if you are a Catwoman fan, you may want to make the sacrifice.
And finally, here’s the Major Spoilers Statue iPad Background for your use.

I’ve never wanted to f**k I toy so much in my life.
Even though I like Supergirl over Catwoman (I will smack whoever reads that the wrong way), I think I prefer this statue rather than the Supergirl one from a while back. Not that I wouldn’t like both statues, but this one just looks more well done to me.
This is a really nice statue. I have a few of this line of Cover girls and this is one of my favoroites along with Black Canary. The detail and paint work are outstanding. Well worth it if you’re a fan. Even if you’re not a Catwoman fan, this might change your mind.
