Yesterday, we reported that Frank Darabont has walked away from The Walking Dead, leaving a hole in the showrunner spot. Today, we’ve learned that executive producer Glen Mazzara has taken over control of the show.
It is still unclear if Darabont will stay on and in what capacity as those conversations are still ongoing. “We hired Glen Mazzara as our Number 2 in the room,” Darabont said in a Deadline interview last month. “We consider him our head writer and he’s just a fantastic asset.”
There’s been no interruption in the production of the show, so we can expect the first episode to arrive on AMC on its scheduled October 16 date.
