MAJOR SPOILERS DISCUSSION: The Brat Pack
Rick Veitch’s fierce and darkly comic BRATPACK has long been considered a subterranean classic of the genre. Now, at last, the notorious graphic novel that made the mainstream safe for totally twisted superhero satires is available in a new KING HELL trade paperback edition! Veitch’s no-holds-barred dissection of the hoary old ‘kid sidekick’ phenomena is as harrowing as it is hilarious; subversively subtle yet completely over the top. BRATPACK is an edgy and unforgettable dance macabre that is a must for every graphic novel collection. With an introduction by Neil Gaiman. BRATPACK is a companion volume to Rick Veitch’s THE MAXIMORTAL and was nominated for “Best Graphic Album” in the Eisner Awards in 1995.

Hi all, just listened to the cast and have a few words about Brat Pack. Most of what was left unexplained at the end of the series is resolved in:
Brat Pack – Maximortal Super Special 01 (1996) If you dont want to know what happens please stop reading now!!
Simply put, Dr Blasphemy is working in league with the vigilantes (which contradicts the section in issue 5 where they think its the priest) King Rad specifically refers to the fact that his butler has planted the bomb.
Cody knows the only way for the group of sidekicks to survive is for them to all drink his “super” blood. King Rad, realising whats about to happen, just blows the church up himself – (I suppose it makes sense to kill off the teen sidekicks every few years because the grow beards and stop being teens?) Then the maximortal appears and basically liquidises the vigilantes for being rather naughty and some other stuff happens.
Essentially I suspect this issue could replace issue 5 of the series as it answers a lot of questions that were originally left unanswered.
Oh and I like Veitch’s nod to the masters when the radio presenters gets comments from Gay Neilman and Al Enmore.
Thanks for another quality cast.
Thanks for filling that in… seems to go along with my speculation and thoughts at the end of the episode.
