Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherOctober 5, 20101 Comment1 Min Read

Skottie Young did a bang up job on art for Marvel’s Wizard of Oz series, now he is back with Eric Shanower to bring Ozma to Oz to comic form.  Marvel sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of the first issue that arrives in November.

Dorothy Gale is back in this adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s classic third Oz book, and this time she’s definitely not in Kansas anymore! After being marooned at sea, Dorothy and Billina—the talking chicken—are beset by a group of screaming Wheelers, strange men with wheels for hands and feet. How will the pair make it through the first leg of their adventure gone horribly wrong and what lies in store if they do? Find out in Ozma of Oz #1!

Ozma of Oz #1 arrives November 03, 2010 and has a cover price of $3.99.

The Wheelers on the last page there just doesn’t look as creepy as they did in Return to Oz (granted the art looks different from previous pages). Return to Oz scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Everything about that movie was terrifying and melancholic, at least to a kid who only wanted a happy-go-lucky kids movie.
