Cover by GARY FRANK
On sale JULY 4 • 144 pg, FC, $22.99 US
• From GEOFF JOHNS and GARY FRANK, the acclaimed team behind SUPERMAN: SECRET ORIGIN and the SHAZAM! stories in JUSTICE LEAGUE!
• In the tradition of SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE, this spectacular original graphic novel gives new insight into BRUCE WAYNE’S transformation into BATMAN and his first year as THE DARK KNIGHT.
• In this all new take on the Batman mythos, Bruce Wayne is on the hunt for his parents’ killer. His target? The Mayor of Gotham City!
• Plus, who is Alfred Pennyworth – and why is he so determined to put an end to the Batman?
I’m going to guess that few of us will really get to see the book on July 4th, unless we live in another country, as most stores are going to be closed to celebrate the U.S.A. holiday. Regardless, I’m looking forward to this like you wouldn’t believe.

At least DC seems to be taking steps to move in the direction of “multiple realities” for continuing stories despite the “Flashpoint” relaunch. Since Earth-Prime now combines DCU/Vertigo/Wildstorm and Earth-One are heroes starting off in our own time-line I’m interested to see what Earth-Two’s history will be now since the “Earth-Two” of the original JSA and the JSA of “Earth Prime” are now no more.
I love the Bats look, but I am not as thrilled with Alfred. Earth One seems to be its own, yet even more mainstreamed, user friendly universe.
I’m curious if Earth One will be subject to Barnes and Noble’s policy of pulling Amazon digital exclusive titles from their shelves since a huge percentage of Superman Earth One’s sales came from Borders and B&N.
I’m kinda burned out by Johns’ attempts at relaunching characters… but I hate myself because I’m probably going to buy this anyways (unless I get to read it at B&N first, which is what triggered the thought).
