MAJOR SPOILERS POLL OF THE WEEK
DC Comics had a great idea a few years ago where it would introduce a new line of comics under the All-Star banner and feature many of their characters in a whole new light. First out of the gate were the powerhouse duo of All-Star Superman (Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely) and All-Star Batman and Robin (Frank Miller and Jim Lee). Sounds like a sure fire hit, right? While Morrison did complete his Superman maxi-series, Miller and Lee floundered in getting their ASBAR out on time. But where not here to discuss release dates, and/or failures. We want to know which of the All-Star series you preferred most – All-Star Superman, or All-Star Batman and Robin.
MAJOR SPOILERS DISCUSSION: All-Star Superman
Witness the Man of Steel in exciting new adventures featuring Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, Bizarro, and more! The Man of Steel goes toe-to-toe with Bizarro, his oddball twin, and the new character Zibarro, also from the Bizarro planet. And Superman faces the final revenge of Lex Luthor – in the form of his own death! Writer Grant Morrison teams with artist Frank Quitely on this spectacular reimagining of the Superman mythos, from The Man of Steel’s origin to his greatest foes and beyond.

Great show. How in the heck was Slappy able to call in live?
He didn’t call in live… he just called at the right time…
What would be the right time? 8pm to 9pm CST?
When we start the show, we don’t answer the phone until we are done.
Also, we thought he was Matthew, it really was a stroke of luck. Can it be repeated? probably, but Slappy had impeccable timing, which contrasts brightly against his table manners and attire.
I think instead of rolling the dice, I will wait until the next live show which might be…?
Thanks for the hope either way, y’all could have been cruel. But that wouldn’t be the Major Spoilers way now would it?
All Star Batman and Robin has 10 issues out already and apparently (at least) 4 completely finished and on the shelf waiting to go to print.
After listening to this podcast, I’m very glad I didn’t continue reading ASSuperman. It sounds like something I wouldn’t care for.
You missed a good show, sir… All-Star Supes was quite good.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. However, this isn’t the type of Superman I like. I’m not a fan of old school when it comes to him.
Hey, just finished listening, and I think what you had to say was totally valid. Great podcast by the way!
Slappy thing was interesting, complete suprise.
Thank you, Matthew, for both butchering my name and referencing my Drax comment from earlier in the week. And you actually made one of the modern Avengers titles sound interesting, which is impressive. I may have to dip my toes into the modern Marvel Universe.
I don’t quite understand how ASBAR connects Year One to LOTDK. In Year One, we’re presented with a very caring individual who takes a bullet to save a cat and who says, “I’m not a killer!” In LOTDK, we have a Batman who can’t even bring himself to kill when it would be most expedient (not even Joker or Two Face).
ASBAR shows a Batman whose aggression isn’t a bell curve from Year One to LOTDK, it’s a spike a mile high. He goes from almost dying to save a cat to trying to get Dick Grayson to kill bats with his bare hands.
Not only that, but all of the other characters are so extreme, they’re barely recognizable.
