I kind of feel like we’re in the middle of a big show of force between Warner Bros. and Disney as each tries to best the other with the biggest news this week.  First it was black Spider-Man followed by Fishburne’s Perry White.  Then Warner continued the push yesterday with the first shot of Henry Cavill in his Superman getup. Today, we get Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle.

If you are wondering what Henry Cavill will look like when he dons his duds for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, take a gander at the image Warner Bros. has released. Though it looks like the Superman costume we are used to, it does look a little thicker and almost looks like the amour costume Jim Lee has cooked up.  Can’t really tell in the picture if he’s wearing his underwear on the outside, but I do see the texturing looks similar to that Spider-Man costume we’ve seen recently.  Guess that is the new H’wood way… In any case, I…

If you pay close attention to words, you often find surprises buried deep in the jibber-jabbering of public relations releases.  Of course that means you actually need to read to the end of the jibber-jabber… DC quietly announced that Batman Beyond will indeed return to store shelves in 2012, presumably (though not confirmed) with Adam Beechen, Chris Batista, and Rich Perotta telling tales of Batman in the fututre. After Marvel’s big news yesterday, there was really only one way for DC/Warner Bros. to step up – announce that Laurence Fishburne will play Perry White in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel movie. Yup, we now know what Fishburne will be doing following his surprise exit from CBS’ CSI this past May. Over the years, there have been a number of talented actors who have played Clark Kent’s boss at the Daily Planet, including Jackie Cooper, who played the newspaper chief in the 1978 Christoper Reeve Superman movie.  This is pretty big news, but I really wonder if they’ll make…

In an interview with Hero Complex, Warner Bros. film group President Jeff Robinov said the company is moving forward with a Green Lantern sequel, even though the movie didn’t open as well as the company had hoped. “We had a decent opening so we learned there is an audience,” said Warner Bros. film group President Jeff Robinov, pointing to the film’s box office debut of $53 million. “To go forward we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action…. And we have to find a way to balance the time the movie spends in…

After all the controversy over women in comics and working in comics swarming around DC these last couple of weeks, Jim Lee and Dan DiDio posted the following on the DC website. Over the past week we’ve heard from fans about a need for more women writers, artists and characters. We want you to know, first and foremost, that we hear you and take your concerns very seriously. We’ve been very fortunate in recent years to have fan favorite creators like Gail Simone, Amy Reeder, Felicia Henderson, Fiona Staples, Amanda Connor, G. Willow Wilson and Nicola Scott write and draw…
