Everyone’s favorite little devil and friendly ghost are together again in the classic series Casper And… Artist Eric Shanower (The Wonderful Wizard of Oz) delivers his first Casper and Hot Stuff art and it is outright fantastic! These are fun new stories done in the classic Harvey style. Make a new ghostly friend with us and this issue of Casper And! Casper And…!

MATTHEW: For some reason, I’m kind of super-psyched about this book. I may not read every issue, but I’m glad to see these characters getting play again. Here’s hoping it’s not a grim and gritty origin reboot.

COMPLETE CRIMSON OMNIBUS HC
Writer: Brian Augustyn
Artist: Humberto Ramos
Publisher: Boom Studios

The beloved Humberto Ramos ( Amazing Spider-Man ) and Brian Augustyn ( Batman: Gotham by Gaslight ) series, Crimson, returns! For the first time ever, experience Alex Elder fs ascension from vampire to chosen one in a comprehensive, prestigious hardcover format. This is the book fans have been waiting for! Collects all 24 issues, Crimson: Scarlett X Blood on the Moon, and the Crimson Sourcebook.

RODRIGO: Oh, oh no, oh no no no, you know I’m here for the Crimson Omnibus. This is exactly the sort of wacky, violent, vampire nonsense that got me through the 90s.

STEPHEN: I rarely recommend a trade paperback on New Comic Book Day, but this is a fun series, and worth picking up if you want to see what Augustyn and Ramos were doing in the late 90s.

DOMINO #4

SOMEONE’S ABOUT TO GET LUCKY…

…and it just might be Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu! If he plays his cards right, that is… Domino’s search for answers about her past takes her to Hong Kong! Will she stay on the straight and narrow? Or go right for the seedy underbelly?

MATTHEW: You had me at Shang-Chi.

Nancy Drew #2NANCY DREW #2
Writer: Kelly Thompson
Artist: Jenn St-Onge, Triona Farrell
Publisher: Dynamite Entertainment
Cover Price: $3.99
Nancy’s returned to her hometown of Bayport to sniff out the sender of an ominous letter that may have to do with her mother’s death seven years ago. Re-teaming with her childhood crime solving team — Bess, George, and The Hardy Boys — Nancy is determined to get to the bottom of things. But she hasn’t even been back in town a day, and someone’s already tried to kill them once. Can they follow the clues in time to stop it from happening again? This modern take on the classic mystery icon continues from KELLY THOMPSON (Hawkeye, Star Wars, Rogue & Gambit) and JENN ST-ONGE (Giant Days, The Misfits)!

INGRID: I have a lot of affection for Nancy Drew, and I’m enjoying this take on her. We left off issue #1 with quite a cliffhanger and it worked – I want to see what happens next!

RAT QUEENS #10
Writer: Kurtis J. Wiebe
Artist: Stjepan Sejic
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $3.50
Palisade is shattered and recovering from the grand battle against the Spawn of N’Rygoth while the Rat Queens try to pick up the pieces of their fractured bond. Hey, we never promised it would all be candy and drugs.

STACY: A more somber issue that reveals the secret origin of everyone’s favorite smidgen, Betty! And we learn the secret of the mysterious reality wizard. Looks like things are really interesting with this already great book.

RESIDENT ALIEN: AN ALIEN IN NEW YORK #4
Writer: Peter Hogan
Artist: Steve Parkhouse
Publisher: Dark Horse
Cover Price: 3.99
Harry has been stranded on earth pretending to be a human doctor for so long, he understands how another intelligent yet marooned alien could fall in love with a human. With his latest mystery cracked, will what Harry has learned in New York City help him finally get back to his homeworld?

RODRIGO: I reviewed this issue in the last Major Spoilers Podcast. Resident Alien is always an interesting read, and I look forward to each new installment.

RUINWORLD #1
Writer: Derek Laufman
Artist: Conor Nolan
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
Writer/Artist Derek Laufman (Adventure Time Comics) brings his worldwide hit digital comics series to life at BOOM! Studios. Intrepid adventurers Pogo and Rex are on a quest for fame and fortune. Their discovery of a special map leads them on an epic journey through dangers, demons and old enemies. Just one problem-they ‘ve already lost the map. An all-ages comic about fun, friendship and screaming in the face of danger, perfect for fans of Adventure Time and Adventure Zone.

RODRIGO: I’m not familiar with Ruinworld but I like Laufman’s art a lot. I’m definitely interested in seeing what this is all about.

SUPERMAN #1
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Joe Prado, Ivan Reis
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
A bold new chapter for the greatest superhero of all time begins here as the superstar team of writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Ivan Reis begin their run on the all-new SUPERMAN! The fallout from the Man of Steel miniseries has Clark Kent looking at the world through new eyes… with new ideas about what Superman could and should do for the city of Metropolis and the planet Earth. His first job? Getting the planet back out of the Phantom Zone!

MATTHEW: I’m not happy with the status quo of the Kent family, but Bendis and DC promise that it’s not what it seems. Man of Steel had some strong moments in it, and I’m willing to give this book a shot, for now.

STACY: Beginning of a great story with a bang up cliffhanger! This is the iconic Superman we all know, with red shorts!

UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #34
Writer: Ryan North
Artist: Ryan North
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
Squirrel Girl and Kraven have had a nice day out as civilians, instead of their usual costumed identities! It was really straightforward and uneventful…is what we’d be saying if this was a way more boring comic, WHICH IT ISN’T! Instead we can say that Squirrel Girl and Kraven battled Mojo’s evil clone and saved the city from his deadly machinations. Then they all got arrested! When Doreen Green and Sergei Kravenoff end up BEHIND BARS, can they be saved? Will they even make it to trial? And who will be their lawyer? We can answer that last one: It’s obviously going to be none other than JENNIFER WALTERS, the incredible SHE-HULK! Doreen behind bars! Kraven on the stand! And a conclusion to the trial that nobody will see coming! It’s all this and more in this particular Marvel comic!

INGRID: What can I say? I love Squirrel Girl! This book is cheerful and optimistic and fun, and some days you just need something that’s downright fun.
