If you are one of the lucky few to be in New York next week, don’t forget the annual Toy Fair will be going on from February 17 to the 20th. I really wish I could go because I’m very excited about seeing the next way of the DC Universe Classics figures, including the giant build a figure Grundy. One of the surprising figure sets that continue to be released is the JLU figures from a television series that has been off the air for a couple of years. I always make a beeline to the toy aisle of the…

Diamond Select Toys has announced the next new figure from retro-inspired Star Trek cloth figures will be Khan Noonien Singh. Unlike the Kirk, Spock, and Klingon figures that were based on molds from the original Mego line, Khan is a brand new sculpt that features the same level as detail as the rest of the line. Genetically engineered during Earth’s Eugenics Wars centuries earlier, Khan attempted to gain the crew’s trust and take over the Enterprise for his own purposes. Barely stopped by Captain James T. Kirk, Khan was exiled to the distant Ceti Alpha V and forgotten. Refusing to…

I was drifting through my local pop culture store the other day, when I happend across the Kirk and Klingon figures from Diamond Select Toys.  You know, the ones that are made from the original Mego molds from the 1970s? The company is at it again with their latest 8-inch figures – Mego’s Planet of the Apes.  Looks like they’ll be using the same molds (no pictures from the company at this time), and will roll out the Cornelius and Ursus figures first.  Later, the line will feature Dr. Zaius and Dr. Zira figures. What? No Charlton Heston with “Finally,…

Holy crap, has it been 20 years since the debut of The Next Generation? I suddenly feel really really old. For those wanting to get their mitts on the figure head over to Suncoast and F.Y.E. Although with the recent troubles Suncoast has had, you better get there in the next 30 days before the company declares bankruptcy. via Diamond Select Toys

Remember a few years ago when Todd McFarlane released a line of toys with his interpretation of L. Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz?  Now that toy idea is going to be turned into a movie with McFarlane producing.  Josh Olson, who did a History of Violence will write. But I don’t think we’ll be seeing a bondage Dorothy. “I saw those toys, and Dorothy as some bondage queen isn’t something I want to do,” Olson told Daily Variety. “The appealing thing about the Baum books to me is how wildly imaginative they are. There are crazy characters from amazing places.…

Oh man, first it was Lego Star Wars, then Lego Batman, now Lego and LucasArts are teaming up for Lego Indiana Jones: The Videogame. The game will be a tounge-in-cheek as players take on the role of Indiana Jones as he whips his way through the three movies. Way back in 1995 or so, when Lego released it’s Adventure series, I posted how cool it would be to have actual Indiana Jones playsets. Well it looks like 12 years of waiting is finally paying off as Lego and Lucasfilm have announced we’ll get Indiana Jones playsets in January 2008.
