IDW Publishing is another in the line of comic book publishers that have decided to take their wares to the web, by announcing a deal with Eagle One Media.  Instead of a proprietary format, Eagle One Media and IDW are releasing titles in PDF format for a mimimum of $1.99. Press Release Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Michael Chiklis (The Shield)  has signed a deal with IDW Publishing to develop a graphic novel series, Olympus, based on an original idea by Anny Simon Beck.  Chiklis will develop Olympus thru his shingle, Extravaganza Productions.  The parties anticipate the project being developed for other entertainment media, including film, television and games, with Chiklis to essay the Greek God Zeus.

Beginning in October 2009, each of the five volumes will collect nearly two years worth of daily and Sunday strips, in chronological order. This will be the very first time that many of these comic strips have been collected, and the first time in a beautifully designed, hardcover format. The books will be part of IDW’s Library of American Comics imprint, and designed by Eisner Award-winner Dean Mullaney.

CEO Ted Adams, who initiated the series and edited its first six volumes, has announced that Tracy is being folded into IDW’s Library of American Comics imprint, alongside Terry and the Pirates, Little Orphan Annie, and other classic newspaper strip titles. In January, IDW Publishing debuts the comic book prequel to the next Terminator movie, Terminator: Salvation.  The movie is the fourth installment in the big screen contingent of the action series, starring Christian Bale as John Connor and directed by McG.  The movie opens in May 2009.

IDW Publishing has announced it will release a five-issue mini-series based on American McGee’s Grimm videogame in April 2009. The series allows Grimm, the macabre dwarf who wreaks havoc on fairy-tale tableus, as he exits the latest fairy tale he darkened only to discover bright and sunny superhero comics. He enters the world, kick-starting a “Crisis on Earth 57,” where he launches a secret invasion crisis into a domain where villains are doomed to fail… until he gets involved! The series will be written by Dwight MacPherson with art by Grant Bond as Grimm invades world after world of comics.…
