Now that is creepy… More please. There really aren’t enough good titles covering the various supernatural realms. Sandman concluded years ago, as did Preacher, and while Buffy the Vampire Slayer continues to rock, Shadowpact got the axe. Cthulhu Tales delivers the chilling supernatural sure to give the reader nightmares, but when it comes to supernatural thriller crime stories, the cupboard is pretty bare. So, when Boom! Studios sent me an advanced copy of Hexed by Michael Alan Nelson with art by Emma Rios, I knew it was worth checking out, even if I am generally wary of titles I know…
Cue White Rabbit If you aren’t from a distant planet, aren’t getting your powers from a special device, and aren’t gifted with cunning and skill beyond those of the everyday man on the street, your chances of becoming a super-hero are pretty slim. These limitations have vexed the normals of the DC Universe, prompting scientists – mad and sane alike – to develop drugs to give them powers to fight (or commit) crime. Take the jump to discover the Top 10 Drugs, available for a price, in the DC Universe.
Or – “When The Girl Next Door Comes From Another Dimension…” In our Hero Histories to date, we’ve seen martyrs and martinets, rockmen and rubber boys, 12th level geniuses and 20th century rejects, but today’s Hero History subject is one of the most relatable of the various Legionnaires throughout the years. Her story is very familiar, a girl from a good family who leaves home and ends up bonding with a kid from the wrong side of the tracks. Her story becomes inextricably intertwined with that of her longtime beau, encompassing one of the Legion’s longest-running and most successful romances, and…
Or “Puzzling… Intriguing… Entertaining… A Little Infuriating… Must Be Dave Sim.” Most of you, our Faithful Spoilerites, are too young to remember the black and white independent comics boom of the 80’s, a time when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were more than a color-coded merchandising phenomenon, where being able to actually draw wasn’t really a prerequisite, a time when having a unique artist’s perspective was not only not uncommercial, it was practically de rigeur. It was a time where names were made and reputations created, a time which really and truly changed comics as we know them (for good…
With 125,000 people attending the San Diego Comic Con, the city of San Diego is bursting at the seems. With a limit on the number of people that can get into the convention hall, and growth expected, is it time for Comic Con International to move the show somewhere else?
If you’ve been watching the Major Spoilers website these last couple of weeks, you know there is a huge comic book convention going on in San Diego, California. The show sold out over a month ago, and hotel rooms went the first day, so anyone who wasn’t on the ball, is now sitting on their couch or chair at the office suffering from SDCC Non-Attendance Remorse. To help you get over your suffering, we take a look at five reasons you should be glad you didn’t go to the largest North American comic book convention of the year.
I know people who have watched the Watchmen trailer over 100 times since it was released last week. I’ve also seen people bicker back and forth over the shots seen, and how close of an adaptation Zack Snyder will bring to the big screen. To help in your decision making, Major Spoilers has gone through the trailer and compared shots from the movie with shots from the graphic novel. Take the jump to see the comparison for yourself. UPDATE: Looks like Empire Online beat me to the punch by a couple of hours on this story. I honestly didn’t realize…
Today is a day to celebrate – Major Spoilers turns two years old! The last year has been a roller coaster of a ride with the addition of a little Major Spoilers-ite joining the family, legal wrangling with some poo-poo heads, the temporary hiatus of the site, and the huge return with more reviews, news, and a brand new podcast.
It’s been one hell of a year, and I have you to thank for it.
Recorded on Earth-21:
Scott Johnson, Bryan, Rodrigo, and Stephen talk Charlton Heston and Michael Moore. Scott tells us more about his life outside of ELR and My Extra Life, web comics and Atomic Robo.
It has been a real struggle to write the reviews for Final Crisis. Every time I pick up the book, I get angry over what I am reading, but then after a while, my blood stops boiling and I give it a second, third, and more often than not, a fourth and fifth reading to come to some kind of understanding with what Morrison is trying to accomplish. I see and respect what he is doing, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.
Oh boy! Another weekly series from DC! While that exclamation may send shivers up and down the spines of those who struggled through Countdown (to Final Crisis), I have higher hopes for Trinity. Busiek has proven he can tell brilliant super hero stories, and Bagley’s art is always top notch, but does the second issue hold up to the first?
Greenskinned Goliaths, Skinheaded Mad Scientists, Chuck’s out at DC, Chuck’s IN at Wildstorm, random ramblings, rabid reviews, muties havin’ babies, and… Da BOYZ! All this and more, in the nineteenth episode of the podcast that means well… The Major Spoilers Podcast!
In this outing, Image founders head for home, wall-crawlers head back to the big screen, X-Men head back to Earth, DC’s Big Three head for trouble, the next big thing is twenty years ago, and we tackle head on one of the world’s great conundrums: Can Logan’s claws pierce Steve Rogers’ shield? Plus, a look back at Frank Miller’s opus. All this and much much more on this, as the podcast reaches the age of majority.
