According to the Hollywood Reporter, director George Miller spent most of the weekend in casting sessions for the Justice League of America movie. Who showed up? On the roll call are Adam Brody (Fox’s “The O.C.”), Joseph Cross (“Running With Scissors”), D.J. Cotrona (“Windfall”), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Grindhouse”), Michael Angarano (“Sky High”), Teresa Palmer (“Wolf Creek”), Max Thieriot (“Jumper”) and rapper Common. The cast of NBC’s “Friday Night Lights” is well-represented as well, with Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki and Scott Porter also among those testing for parts. Take a look at one of the pieces you’ll be seeing in Dr. Manhattan’s home in the upcoming Watchmen movie. Warner Bros. has leased the pieces “Hemisphere” by Arlie Regier, “Sphere” by his son Dave Regier, and “Hyperbolic Hexagon II” and “Atomic Flower,” both by Brent Collins. The artwork is being shipped to Vancouver, British Columbia, where filming is under way. Paul Dorrell, who represents the artists, said the filmmakers apparently saw pictures of the sculptures on the Internet and thought they would be ideal in “Watchmen.” I did a quick search for the other pieces on the Interwebs and…

Dynamite Entertainment has announced The Sword of Red Sonja: Doom of the Gods will be the next Red Sonja mini-series from the company. The tale is written by Luke Lieberman with art by Lui Antoni and covers by Paul Renaud, Aaron Lopresti, and Mel Rubi. Doom of the Gods is the follow-up to last years’ immensely powerful Red Sonja versus Thulsa Doom mini-series by co-writers Peter David and Luke Lieberman with artist art by Will Conrad, and features the She-devil with a Sword in an epic battle against the powerful necromancer Thulsa Doom. Paul Grist’s superhero Jack Staff returns as a monthly title starting this January according to Image Comics. “I’ve longed to put out JACK STAFF monthly for a long time,” Grist said in a prepared statement. “Luckily, I wasn’t alone as Image’s Executive Director, Eric Stephenson, has wanted the same thing.
