We’ve been waiting for it ever since Elektra was revealed as a Skrull, now Marvel launches the first salvo of Secret Invasion: Infiltration in two issues – New Avengers: Illuminati #5, and Avengers: The Initiative Annual #1. They are sans word balloons, but Marvel has sent a sneak peek of the two issues that you can see after the jump.

Youngblood is set to return to Image Comics in January 2008. The series will feature new characters and old, some you’ve seen, and one you haven’t. “YOUNGBLOOD is the book which launched the Image invasion and eventually spawned THE ULTIMATES and AUTHORITY,” said writer Joe Casey. “It’s only right it’s back at home and I’m extremely thrilled Rob has entrusted his creations to series artist Derek Donovan and me. Derec and I are bringing back everything fans loved about the series, but in a whole new style set for the fans of today.” Take the jump for the full cover.

When Hellgate: London launches October 31, fans of the game will be able to get their hands on a special edition that features all of the Hellgate: London comics from Dark Horse Comics. In addition to the Hellgate: London game and the exclusive, special-edition, 104 page Hellgate: London graphic novel, the collector’s set will also include a bonus DVD of The Making of Hellgate: London, as well as the game soundtrack, and a special Hellgate: London world map. The webcomic site The Chemsitry Set announced Tony Lee and Dan Boultwood (from Silver Bullet Comic Books) are joining the list of Chemistry Set creators. The duo will be bringing their miniseries, The Gloom to the site soon. The Gloom is the tale of Carson Kane, a 1940’s industrialist who, by night, takes to the street as an Angel of Vengeance, his two hellfire pistols in his hands. Remember when the viral marketing website for The Dark Knight had a hidden message that said, “See you in December”? Many suspected (myself included) that would be when the first major trailer for the movie would drop, but according to the Omelete, IMAX movies goes may be getting a seven minute preview in front of Will Smith’s I Am Legend. Top Cow has announced The Darkness will be a new ongoing series debuting December 12th. The new ongoing series will be written by Phil Hester (Green Arrow, Deep Sleeper) and penciled by Michael Broussard (Unholy Union). Both Hester and Broussard have stated their commitment to the ongoing series with Broussard recently signing a 3 year exclusive contract with Top Cow. Diamond Comic Distributors has sent Major Spoilers the market data number for the top 300 comics sold in September 2007. This month, Diamond provides the list with rankings based on the number of issues sold as well as retailer ranking. For the most part the rankings are identical, but there are a few that differ. Taking the top spot in September is World War Hulk #4, followed closely by the Spider-Man One More Day kick-off issue in Spider-Man #544.
