The titular society, founded by Marie Curie to help women work for the betterment of humanity in private, has evolved over the decades to become a little more hands on with their charter! Nowadays, criminal networks are bent on stealing the work of scientists and using the knowledge for their own nefarious ends, and that’s where Simone, Maya, and Taj come in; three young women with various high-level scientific skills (and Taj is no slouch in a fight, either). In ERIS ETERNAL, the team reunites when a society alumna with several life-changing inventions comes under threat. And when she’s poisoned under their watch, it’s game on; the team swings into action that doesn’t let up until the last page.
With CURIE adventures, you come for the story and stay for the STEM, and that’s extra true for this one. We’re treated to the real science work the trio are doing in their own lives, that of brand new friends and allies from around the world they meet along the way, and the principles behind their ingenious problem-solving as they race to save Daksha’s life. It’s all done under the guidance of science advisor Dr. Ritu Raman, including two backup comics by artists Aśka and Nomi Kane about biofabrication and Marie Curie herself. It’s a teachable book for sure, hands down, but it’s also a rip-roaring read. As the meme says, why not both?
The YA graphic novel is scheduled to arrive on March 26, 2024.
