PRESS RELEASE
BOOM! Studios announced today that it has added a key employee on the Editorial team ahead of a milestone year in which the company will celebrate the five year anniversary of the Slaughterverse, the iconic shared universe of Something is Killing the Children, and the 10 year anniversary of the beloved BOOM! Box imprint, alongside new initiatives across its entire portfolio of original and licensed titles.
David Mariotte has joined as an Editor. Mariotte comes to BOOM! Studios after more than seven years at IDW Publishing, where he oversaw licensed titles including Samurai Jack, Dungeons & Dragons, and Godzilla; as well as originals such as Scarenthood, The Kill Lock, and Canto.
Notably, he edited the Sonic the Hedgehog series for over five years, and had a similarly long stint on Transformers and other Hasbro action titles. He has also written for licensed titles, like Transformers vs. the Terminator, which CBR lauded as one of the top 10 miniseries of the past five years. Mariotte has been commended by his peers on his professionalism, his eye for new talent, and his ability to put together exciting books across all genres and demographics.
“David comes to our team with a remarkable reputation for editing thrilling, artistically daring, and commercially successful titles, with a real talent for shepherding genre pushing storytelling across both licensed and original properties,” said Matt Gagnon, Editor-in-Chief, BOOM! Studios. “I am beyond thrilled to welcome him to BOOM! Studios, and can not wait to share with the world the slate of projects he will be working on.”
