It seems like Pacific Rim 2 has been in production hell for forever, but now that John Boyega is on board, the film has a release date.
In the sequel, Boyega will play the son of Idris Elba’s character from the first film. Daredevil director Steven S. DeKnight will helm the project with Thomas Tull, Guillermo del Toro, and Mary Parent producing.

Giant robots fighting giant Kaiju will arrive in theaters on February 23rd, 2018 – five years after the original. Though it wasn’t the most intellectual of movies, Pacific Rim is exactly what it appears to be – two hours of punching, fighting, giant monster action that is a lot of fun. It shouldn’t have taken five years for the movie to get a sequel, but it is, and considering the first film grossed $410 million on a $190 million budget, it seems someone was dragging their feet.
