While watching ‘Ocean’s 13’ recently, I realized how compelling the idea of having an elite crew of specialists is. (Heck, even the making of the movies is just a bunch of friends getting together to pool their skills and get away with millions.) Every time the Major Spoilers crew goes anywhere as a team, I hear the background theme start to play (It’s a mix of kazoo, banjo and steel drum, with a Calypso beat) and think how cool it would be to put one over on Terry Benedict, leading to today’s All-Star query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) would probably cheat and call the All-Star Squadron, featuring scientists, athletes, geniuses and an alien, asking: Which already-existing fiictional crew would you call in to pull off your hypothetical daring raid?

The Ben 10 crew circa “Alien Force” and “Ultimate Alien”. You’ve pretty much got everything you need right there. Ben has multiple aliens for all manner of situations, and even the wrong alien form is still more useful than most mere humans. Then you have Gwen, who is intelligent and tactical, as well as having “magic”/mana manipulation powers. And to round it all off, you have Kevin, who aside from having absorption powers allowing him to take on the properties of any material or even some powers, he’s a reasonably skilled intergalactic thief, mechanic and pilot. In a bind, there is also Julie and Ship to provide backup. Julie might be a mere human, but she can hold her own in a fight and can utilize Ship as armor, a weapon, a ship or any other useful resource.
I would probably go with X-Men. I got pretty much every situation covered and enough morally ambiguous characters to do whatever needs to be done.
I choose the crew of the Starship Enterprise.
I know it wasn’t the super actiony movie, (I doubt it could be made like that today) but I really enjoyed Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. So they recycled the initial plot of Star Trek the Motionless Picture, but back in the past, they really worked as a team and made a very enjoyable film. The crew that can drop walls from a helicopter into a cloaked alien vessel hundreds of years before it’s time in the middle of San Francisco without attracting a crowd can get some stuff done.
