This May, Image Comics launches Renato Jones: The One % by Kaare Kyle Andrews, a new creator-owned “supercharged capitalist action thriller.”
In RENATO JONES: THE ONE %, society’s upper one percent own more than half the world’s wealth. They’ve crashed economies, bought governments, and amassed more power than any other group in history. And they still don’t have enough. With this kind of power how can anyone make them pay? WHO will make them pay? Enter Renato Jones, a mysterious vigilante out to even the score. And when he enters the fray THE SUPER-RICH ARE SUPER F***ED.
This may be a couple of years too late, but the title alone should get some people very charged up over the title and the implications behind the main character.
“Batman was a billionaire kid who watched his billionaire parents die at the hands of a poor street thug trying to keep his family alive,” said series writer Kaare Kyle Andrews. “Batman didn’t declare war against crime, he declared war against the impoverished. The world today doesn’t need Batman. The jails are over-run with the poor. The true criminals, the ones that aren’t prosecuted… are protected by money and position. They bankrupt our country, take our jobs, take our homes, kill hope and compassion. And profit from all of it. Today’s world needs someone who can make THEM pay. The ONEs. Today’s world needs RENATO JONES… It’s not Revenge. It’s Restitution.”
So, are you on board?
Renato Jones: The One % arrives on Wednesday, May 4th.
