With the huge announcement that Spider-Man is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that Marvel Studios will produce Spider-Man flicks going forward, what does this mean for the rest of the MCU movies?
Moments after the Spider-Man announcement, BoxOffice.com started sending out messages announcing many Marvel movies are getting their release dates pushed.
Disney will now release THOR: RAGNAROK on November 3, 2017.

Disney will now release BLACK PANTHER on July 6, 2018.

Disney will now release CAPTAIN MARVEL on November 2, 2018.

Disney will now release INHUMANS on July 12, 2019.

In October, 2014, Marvel announced the following dates:
- Thor: Ragnarok – July 28, 2017
- Black Panther – November 03, 2017
- Captain Marvel – July 6, 2018
- Inhumans – November 02, 2018
It does indeed look like Marvel and Disney are making room in their movie schedule to ensure that these major flicks are not going up against one another in the box office to maximize profits for everyone. The really interesting bit in this shuffle is now Thor: Ragnarok opens just weeks ahead of Justice League Part One. The Warner Bros. feature opens on November 17, 2017, so Marvel and Disney must be betting that they can maximize dollars before the Justice League takes over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
For those excited about seeing Black Panther and Captain Marvel, are now going to wait a bit longer for the big screen debuts.
What do you think of this change to Marvel Studios previously announced schedule?

Pretty stoked about this. I am ok with the dates being pushed back if it results in a quality Spider-Man movie that fits the theme and tone of the rest of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of all the characters, the casting of this one is the most important for me. Previously, casting has not been a make or break deal for me but for some reason I just feel that for Spider-Man it is different and the casting will be more scrutinized than any of the previous castings. I dare not speculate as to who would be a good fit. I feel that it will be an unknown but a tiny part of me maybe wonders just a little bit if we will see a Miles Morales this time around. We are looking at the third iteration of Spider-Man in 15 years. Maybe audiences are played out with Peter Parker? Maybe a new man in the suit, particularly of an ethnic persuasion, could drum up a little more pub for the man in red and blue? Probably not. Even as a dyed in the wool Peter Parker fan I wouldn’t mind seeing Miles. With the upcoming Civil War store it is probably a shot in the dark.
Bravo to Sony and Marvel for not taking the lazy option. No doubt this will be a success for the both of them.
And quite the fan-fest as well.
I am a huge spider-man fan but I’m only excited about this if this is a miles morales movie. Pushing back the first women & non-white hero’s movies for another white male hero who already had 5 movies this century just seems unfair.
I’m 90% positive these dates will get shuffled around a bit once more. This puts Inhumans after Infinity War Part 2, and unless there were very few ties between the films they would need some rewrites to make the new release schedule work. Not to say that is impossible, Inhumans could be dealing with the aftermath of the Infinity War now instead of being a part of it, but who knows. I’m just not going to bet on these dates being set until filming on each one begins.

I never figured these dates as set in stone, but rather “We hope to release this by X date, so it should be roughly around that time and not sooner”. So if they get shuffled around two, three or eight more times, it won’t surprise me.
