MAJOR SPOILERS POLL OF THE WEEK
Disney bought Marvel Enterprises for $4 Billion. The virtual press conference the companies had earlier today tried to spell everything out, and I particularly like this quote “We believe in the team at Marvel, and see no need to upset the apple cart.â€
Well, the apple cart is pretty much upset, as the nerd rampage continues across the Intardwebz, with some people proclaiming this to be the end of all things holy in the House of Ideas. But is it? Is it really? It’s time for you to cast your vote!
Get over to the Major Spoilers Website and vote.

It’s always great whenever you guys are able to bring some sense to the world. I’m glad you were able to just tell people to calm the hell down.
People that think Disney is just a kids cartoon company could not be further from the truth. But hey, like you said, Marvel fans now have scapegoat to blame everything unfortunate on.
Great discussion on the big news of the week. I feel a lot better about it. If Marvel characters are going to be in front of more eyeballs and get more people into comic shops, that can’t be a bad thing. Unless comic book shop owners become more like Elijah Price and kick the kids out.
At roughly 47 minutes into the cast, I believe I ate a cookie. I apologize for this, as it sounds pretty terrible to me. Mea culpa. :)
Whiskey and Froot Loops, by the way? *$#%ing awesome.
Holy crap. I think those 2 voicemails convinced themselves that the Disney/Marvel deal is a good thing.
Next time I have a problem, I’ll be sure to call and leave a long, drawn out message to fix my emotional issues. You guys should start charging for that.
Wow!
And a note to Tim’s voicemail at the end…
Not to hammer home what they talked about on the show, but saying that Hannah Montana is going to be in a Marvel comic is like saying that the cast of Lost (A Disney owned show mind you), are going to wake up in Disneyland and realize the island was dream.
Saying that nothing is sacred any more is a bit much don’t you think? Disney is not a Cartoon company; they are a business company with their hand in just about every kind of pie. Oh and Sony has returned the rights to Spider-man pictures to Marvel.
Alright, Rant, Over.
Great podcast guys! Don’t know if anyone else pointed it out, but in reference to Kevin Smith’s Batman: Widening Gyre. The title is actually a reference to the poem “The Second Coming” by WB Yeats. Here is the poem:
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
Yes, this comics nerd is also an English nerd too:) LOL
We had discussed this before the show, and Matthew was supposed to bring it up during the review, but alas, at the 47 minute mark, Matthew had a cookie in his mouth.
I don’t think it was only one
This is why you need to record the good stuff BEFORE the show, ’cause you never know where a cookie might arrive.
I was running late and didn’t get a chance to eat before the show, thank you very much, Mr. Lopez.
I would like to know how this is going to affect the international publishing market, being a fellow spoilirite from Brazil and all. And Thor with Mickey ears is funnier than Mickey Logan. So there.
